Our Practices

Family-Owned Business

The attorneys of Burns & Levinson have been representing founder and family-owned businesses for the past half century, since the firm's founding in 1960. We are sensitive to the dynamic of family and business issues and understand our clients’ needs for a multi-disciplinary team approach. Our attorneys have assisted and counseled founder and family-owned businesses in diverse industries, primarily in New England, but also nationally and internationally on a wide variety of legal and business issues, including corporate, corporate finance, governance, real estate, tax, succession planning, estate planning, litigation (business litigation, inter/intra-family disputes, estate and trust disputes, divorce of business owner spouses, and guardianship/conservatorship) as well as intellectual property. We take great pride in our track record over the decades in representing founder and family-owned businesses, many having now been successfully transitioned to the third generation.

In addition, the attorneys of Burns & Levinson build relationships for our clients -- using our network and other resources to expand their business opportunities. Burns & Levinson is also a sponsor of the New England Chapter of the Family Firm Institute and the Northeastern University’s Center for Family Business.
